Hawaii Kai Real Estate Information
Hawaii Kai is my home. It is the best city in Hawaii in my opinion, and
the best place to own Real Estate in the world! East Oahu is considered
by many as the nicest area to live in, with multi million dollar homes
and master planned communities. With a beautiful bay coming into a
marina that runs a mile inland into Hawaii Kai, many of the homes sit
on the water, complete with a dock.
Hawaii Kai is the only community where you can buy real
estate in Hawaii with a boat dock on a marina. You would think there
would be dozens of communities like this, but actually it's the only
one in Oahu. That's one of the things that makes real estate in Hawaii
Kai so valuable. With median prices higher than just about anywhere in
the state, it's a very upscale community.
You can even waterski inside the marina, in two areas that are
designated for towing things Marinabehind a boat. With several
commercial boat rentals available, you can get on a ski boat or dive
boat just about any day.

Excellent Schools
People always ask me where the best schools in Hawaii are. Of course
people want their kids to go the best schools possible, and Hawaii Kai
is a great option with Koko Head elementary and Kamiloiki consistently
scoring in the top of Hawaii's school rankings. Also a little bit
toward Honolulu, Kahala elementary is one of the best schools in the
state. With some of the highest parent involvement in the state, Hawaii
Kai's schools have great support from the community.
Here's a page where you can see more information about Hawaii School
rankings and reviews.
Our Community
We have 3 main shopping centers in Hawaii Kai, The Hawaii
Kai Towne Center, The Koko Marina Center, and the Safeway Center. We
have Costco, City Mill, The Shack, Longs, Ross, Panda Express,
Starbucks, Common Groundz, Jamba Juice, Blue Water Grill, Kona Brewing
Company, and dozens of great merchants. One of my favorite places is
Common Grounds, where you can sit on the marina and have great coffee.
There are also some wonderful places to hike in Hawaii Kai, including
Makapuu point and the lighthouse. In fact some of the most beautiful
landscape is here in Hawaii Kai.
For waterfront living, Spinnaker Isle, Anchorage, the
Peninsula, Koko Isle, Kuapa Isle, and the West Marina area are great
places to live with a dock. Homes on the marina range from about $600k
for a townhouse to as much as $5million for a large house.
With plenty of hillside homes, Hawaii Kai has a lot of real estate with
wonderful views of the ocean and marina. Mariner's ridge, Na Pali
Haweo, Kamehame Ridge, Hahaione Valley, and Kamiloiki are some areas
where you can have wonderful sweeping views of the ocean. You usually
pay about $100k extra for a grand view of the ocean.
Hawaii Kai has a few famous spots that are enjoyed by tourists and
locals. Hanauma bay of course is the most famous snorkeling spot on the
south side of Oahu, and has more visitors snorkeling than any other
beach. Since it's a nature preserve that prevents fishing, there are
beautiful large fish everywhere.
Hawaii Kai also has Sandy Beach with the Halona blowhole,
a world class body surfing beach sometimes called "break necks." Each
year several people are injured body surfing at Sandy Beach (not very
creative is it) because of the intense waves. Don't be fooled by the
size, it's intense.
Just up the street from Sandy beach is some great Real Estate. You can
own a house on the golf course in Queens Gate or Laulima, both nice
neighborhoods with upscale homes. Many of them have both a golf course
and ocean view, what could be better? Drive a little farther inland and
Kalama Valley has around a thousand homes in a quiet neighborhood.
Here's a general breakdown of some of the major Hawaii Kai
Neighborhoods and Condo buildings by average price as of 2006. There is
some overlap because some neighborhoods and Condos in Hawaii Kai have
