Honolulu Rail System should be cancelled
Posted by Tony Kawaguchi, RA on Monday, September 14th, 2009 at 4:53pm.$5 BILLION. That's $4300 per person in the State of Hawaii to have a Rail System in Honolulu, compared to Phoenix's $180 per person system. There is no question that we must stop rail now. Go visit the Stop Rail Now site and see what you can do to participate.
There is also a great post over at Fix Oahu Blog, where Panos says, " The fact is that the project will cost much more because utility relocations, stoppages for iwi (ancient burial grounds) and delays from lawsuits are not included in the costs. Not enough taxes are being collected due to the prolonged slow economy6 Responses to "Honolulu Rail System should be cancelled"
Oh definitely!! Kill that project! Hanneman isn't listening to the one's who put him in office....WHY?? Everyone knows only the companies building this thing will benefit.
We got enough high rises, freeways and monster buildings that already block out our scenery.

The greatest help would be if the Realtors were to join the Architects in formally opposing the elevated rail as an eyesore for the City.

I'm with you Cliff, the Realtors should definitely oppose Rail in Oahu.

I agree. In addition to the outrageous taxes to be imposed, Eminant Domain is one of the ways government can away property rights from private owners.

The cost of the rail is outrageously high. The damage to our scenery and environment will also be high. As rail drains our economy, the rest of our infrastructure will continue to fall apart. I can only imagine a shiny rail perched high on its pedestals surrounded by slums as far as the eye can see.
