Built like a high-rise though it's only 4 stories tall, Kalele Kai may be the most well-constructed of the marina front condos.
The complex feels like a hotel when you walk inbuilt out of concrete with high ceilings and a very solid structure. The gated and guarded complex offers 3 buildings that are each 6 stories high (mid-rise condo). They offer 2 and 3 bedroom units that are between 1421-2345 (not counting lanai sq ft) square feet, some of which boast wonderful views of the marina and nearby Koko head crater. There are also 10, 2 story water front town homes with 3 bedrooms each.
The complex was built in 1993 and were appointed with nice European cabinetry, smooth finished walls and contemporary, open living floor plans. The complex has beautiful grounds that are maintained and managed by on-site staff, and there is A LOT for them to maintain!
The housekeepers keep the interior of the buildings neat and welcoming. Each building has its own lobby area with leather sofa's and other nice furnishings that really give you a high end feel when you or your guests walk in. The tree's, palms, bushes and flowers are abundant in this complex and give you a very tropical feeling. There are lots of walking paths and boat slips along the water that are available to the owners. The staff really does a great job at maintaining the peaceful and clean vibe there.
The pool, spa and barbecue area are so comfortable and inviting. There is a great recreation room that you can use (with a refundable deposit) that is just off the pool area. Its great for parties. I've seen birthday's, showers, and meetings being held there.
Prices at Kalele Kai range from $725,000-$1,550,000, and units can be quite large, at about 2000 sqft max.
Some of the units face Keahole St., which is not very desirable. The units that face the marina are the best, and units that face the inside of the complex can be great too. You can walk out the gate of Kalele Kai to the Safeway Center, where you have great little restaurants and a nice coffee shop right on the water.
You have to be picky when looking at properties in Kalele Kai. You don't want to end up with a lot of noise or a view of Safeway's roof, but the nicer units here are hard to beat. When these units were built, they were higher-end condos for working professionals, so the whole place feels quite upscale.
